- Use the Basic Search Form (Congressional Publications), Advanced Search Form (Congressional Publications), or Search By Number Form (Congressional Publications).
- Use these search criteria:
- Keyword
- Title
- Subject
- Geographical index term
- Committee name
- Bill number
- Congressional number
- CIS accession number
- SuDoc number

The GPO has always cataloged Executive Documents (later named Treaty Documents) and Executive Reports using the Y.1(Cong-Session) series. GPO did not classify House Reports, House Documents, Senate Reports, and Senate Documents until 1981. For special House and Senate Documents they did classify them using X(Cong-Session):H.doc….

In 1981 when GPO began classifying the complete serial set documents collection they changed the Y.1(Cong-Session) series for Executive Reports and Treaty Documents to conform to the new series listed below:
- Y 1.1/3: Senate Documents (EL) (0996-D)
- Y 1.1/3: Senate Documents (MF) (0996-B)
- Y 1.1/3: Senate Documents (P) (0996-A)
- Y 1.1/4: Senate Treaty Documents (EL) (0996-E)
- Y 1.1/4: Senate Treaty Documents (MF) (0996-B)
- Y 1.1/4: Senate Treaty Documents (P) (0996-A-01)
- Y 1.1/5: Senate Reports (EL) (1008-G)
